AISI 304 stainless steel
Wood Fixing Kit 8×38 mm (3 pcs) is a fixing set designed for attaching railing posts, metal base plates, brackets and other components to wooden substrates. The kit includes 3 AISI 304 (A2) stainless steel wood screws with hexagonal heads and 3 M8 (A) washers, providing the essential components for three fixing points.
The 8 mm diameter and 38 mm length screws provide a mechanical connection between metal components and suitably prepared timber. The hexagonal heads allow convenient installation with a suitable wrench or socket, while the washers help distribute the clamping force around the fixing holes. According to the supplied installation diagram, 6 mm pilot holes are recommended before driving the screws, subject to the properties of the wood.
1. Prepare the fixing position: Position the railing post or other metal component on the wooden substrate. Check its alignment and mark the drilling positions through the three fixing holes.
2. Drill the pilot holes: According to the supplied installation diagram, drill 6 mm diameter pilot holes at the marked positions. Select the appropriate hole depth and confirm the diameter based on the wood species, density, condition and screw thread.
3. Fit the washers: Place one M8 (A) washer onto each 8×38 mm wood screw. The washers should sit between the screw heads and the metal component being fixed.
4. Install the screws: Align the base plate holes with the prepared pilot holes. Insert all three screws with their washers and drive them into the timber using a suitable wrench or socket.
5. Tighten the connection: Tighten all three screws evenly so that the base plate sits correctly against the wooden substrate. Avoid overtightening, which may damage the wood or reduce the grip of the screw threads.
6. Check the fixing: Verify that the installed component is stable and all three screws are correctly seated. For railing installations, the strength of the timber substrate, fixing arrangement and expected loads must be assessed.
Important: The 6 mm pilot hole diameter is shown in the supplied installation diagram and is not a universal recommendation for all types of timber. Fixing performance depends on wood thickness, density, condition, screw embedment depth and applied loads. AISI 304 (A2) stainless steel is suitable for many normal indoor and outdoor conditions, but more corrosion-resistant materials may be required in marine or chloride-rich environments. The washer material grade has not been confirmed. The load-bearing capacity of this kit has not been specified, so its suitability for a particular railing structure must be assessed separately.
What is included in the Wood Fixing Kit 8×38 mm (3 pcs)?
The kit contains 3 AISI 304 (A2) stainless steel wood screws measuring 8×38 mm with hexagonal heads and 3 M8 (A) washers.
Is this kit suitable for fixing railing posts to wood?
Yes. The kit is intended for fixing metal base plates and railing posts with three suitable mounting holes to wooden substrates. Fixing suitability depends on the properties of the timber and the expected loads.
What pilot hole diameter is recommended before installation?
The supplied installation diagram specifies 6 mm pilot holes. The final hole diameter and depth should be selected according to the wood species, its condition and the screw thread.
